Hey guys -
Looking for some advise....
I started a small Do It Yourself project of cleaning up and painting my steel [ 5 1/2Jx15, 1537 Semmerz, 11/67 ] rims.
Got done priming one of the rims when I noticed it was cracked. Checked the other 3 rims and found one of the others was cracked in the exact same place! Argh.....
Being steel, I assume a weld bead can be put down relatively easily to stop the propagation of the crack.
Would anyone with experience and/or know-how please chime in?
Is a simple weld fix considered safe?
To keep cost down, I would like to find a local welding shop to do the fix.
- as opposed to finding a wheel shop to do a full restoration
Does anyone know of a welding shop, optimally in the Hayward area, that could do this?
Thanks,
