Advice on Tow Bars

#1 Post by BillD17 » Mon Sep 30, 2013 3:59 pm

I no longer have parking for my trailer, so I'm considering flat towing my 914 next year. Anyone have any advice on this? What should I be concerned about? Also, does anyone have a tow bar they would like to sell - or know where I can get one?

Bil, you need to get a. Pair of tow bar attachment brackets and a super beetle tow bar. This is the system I designed and had manufactured by a 914 guy in Texas.
This is what I flat towed my orange 914 RaceCar with Worked great, bolts directly to the torsion bar front attachment points.
The brackets remain in place, then you attach the SB tow bar to the brackets with appropriately sized pit pins.

I will see if I can find the pics.

Brackets were produced by Rennenmetal. David Lee is the owners name.

This was the prototype bracket setup...the final manufactured item was very similar and lots of them were sold.

Dan,

Thanks much for the advice. I've ordered the Rennentech adapter.
