What tires would folks recommend for a 2008 Boxster S for AX and street driving? I don't care about treadwear, so if they only last 5000 miles, that's fine. But they do need to be functional on the street.

Bridgestone RE11 come in stock porsche sizes,,, Dunlop Direzza Star specs come in oversize sizes for Porsches ,,, Both are good Street and ax tires

What Larry says - Those are two hottest tires. Whichever one you can get in your size the cheapest will be the way to go.

You might also consider Kumho XS. One thing to keep in mind is the tire diameter. The Boxster has tall gearing and the smaller tire dia. (under 25.3 inch) is 1 sec faster then the 26in. tire. You will also go drop more time going up in width too, say 245/265 or 245/285. 255/285. etc.
You will also notice significantly more grip on the street. Hopefully you have 18 inch wheels.
