Towing a 914 with a single axle flatbed

#1 Post by Justinp71 » Fri Dec 03, 2010 6:27 pm

I recently bought a single axle flatbed trailer to tow around my sandrail. I would have bought a dual axle, but I would not have a place to store it (to wide for my side yard). Do any of you guys have experience with towing a 914 on a single axle flat bed? I was thinking of loading it up to see how it tows... any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have towed my 914 on a single axle trailer....no problems.
just make sure you can get it far enough forward to get plenty of tongue weight...you want to make sure you aren't rear heavy....leads to bad weight distribution and then you end up with sway... :o

Thanks, do you think I should load it rear facing forward?

personally I would try to get it far enough forward to keep it nose into the wind :)

you should end up with a tongue weight in the 300#s or more to ensure no sway when towing at speeds above 45mph
