Battery. While battery can’t be changed in SS if I go to SSP I’m considering Anti Gravity lithium battery.

The difference in weight is dramatic. They make plenty of good Li automotive batteries nowadays so it is definitely worth it, if you're allowed.

Anti gravity makes a new 13 lb battery that fits in stock 991.2 battery tray. I told my buddy with GT3 RS about anti gravity and he just ordered one and is happy. Problem is that in SCCA I cant run it in SS class. No battery mods in Street.

Would have to go to SSP to put lighter battery in the car and that's a big jump in terms of mods to be competitive in that class with likes of Robs GT2. For LPR and GGR its OK as I run Fun with LPR now and AX6 classification in GGR. It wouldn't bump me from current classing in GGR. Battery savings on modern cars is huge saving - 33 lbs. My car starts out light for a 991 - similar to GT3 and by losing 25 lbs of wheel weight, 33 lbs of battery and 12 lbs of muffler it gets close to 3000 lbs. But then I jump in and mess it all up! Part of me just says screw it and have fun making car way I like driving it. I never have really aspired to be class winning AX driver. Just do it to keep my reflexes sharp and to challenge myself and I like high levels of competition at national events - but that's just more a thing of awe for me seeing people who do magic on AX course.

SSP would mean race tires and wheels, better suspension, tune, intake mods, cat mods and those guys who run SSP in Porsches run ridiculous amounts of tire under stock fenders. Im not comfortable running so much tire as it will rub. Im pretty much limited to 265 front and 315 rear if I want to keep things from rubbing. Crazy cars like Rob B, Monty and Steve run 335 rear and 295 and bigger up front.

I'm lucky, I can use a 3.7 pound Li battery. Not much needed other than cranking and a tiny bit for electromotive.

Man, 335 rears. I'm stuck with 275. Seems to work fine for my car config.

Yeah agreed your car works great on that size. My current setup is 245 front and 295 rear and surprised at how well it turns in.

Its nice setup from Sharkwerks. They use local fabricator who really does beautiful job on welds. Fits perfectly. Car loses little weight off back. Sounds cooler too! With stock black tips it looks just like stock.

Seemed take ECU little time to learn new flow. It got much faster with time. Turbo seems to spin up faster. Next headers and sport cats and a tune. 500 HP here I come. Suspension wheels and tires next.

No way in hell this car is going to be competitive with GT3 without more power, suspension and wider wheels and tires.

First SS drive at National tour. Nothing like drinking from fire hose with so little time in this car with new setup. Up against fairly tough competition with Monty and even faster national level driver in new Zo6. I over drove car trying to find limits of my newish setup. 3 runs a day really didn't give me time to figure it out as Im not an AX brained guy - I tend to find limit first and then dial back. I have always struggled with getting settled into car and tend to drive better with time but from what I can tell on big open course im significantly slower than GT3 with similar setup. I think on more technical courses where Vette and GT3 cant use mechanical grip and power advantages as much Id have a chance but I was dead meat on fast course that has room to use grip. Issues for me lack of rear grip - car very tail happy so need to either get adjustable front bar or figure out how I get more tire in rear than current 295/30/20 re71. Stock car runs 305 but nothing in fast AX tires in that size for 20. Makes controlling car tough in slaloms and fast turn exits. Certainly gets around tight stuff fast though. Rotation with stock tires was easier to control but grip of PS4S Michelins was not as good as RE71.

Was 2-3 seconds back from Monty on high 60 to 70 second course. Ill concede a second and half on my over driving but good second in just car capability. Overall don't think its going to be much of an SS car. Heck super fast guys in AS were kicking my butt. I think car fits better in AS with 981 Cayman GTS and old Gen Corvettes. Ill write SCCA but suspect they wont change it from SS.

Probably will skip into SSP as I think that will allow me to do fun things with car without really making huge changes. Suspension upgrade to coilovers and adjustable control arms to grab more camber, bigger tires and wheels, tune. At least then I have fair fight with power, suspension and grip.
