SCCA National Tour at Crows April 28-30

Postby grant » Mon Mar 20, 2017 5:56 pm

Who is going to SCCA National Tour at Crows? Should be fun event. Still not too hot in April. I'm running XP in my FP car as it looks like we will have a decent field in XP. So far XP lotus and BMW signed up. I'm sure there will be couple more by event.

Cool! Should be fun event! B Street is very interesting class with Cayman S, C5 vettes and turbo bang boxes. Looks like you actually will have an e mod grid! Maybe 4 or 5 cars by the event if Gary goes. Haven't seen 818 run but bet that's a fast car if set up properly.

Fun weekend! Monty did an awesome job against top drivers most in GT3s . He set fastest SS time on Saturday in class and just barely lost first place to another fast local GT3 driver today ending up in Second. Bill trophied in EM. Larry had tough battle in BS. Steve L was quick as always !

Running my Cayman in XP was the proverbial knife to a gun fight . My driving just sucked too. I just couldn't seem to pull together either day and made major mistakes. Left stability control on by accident on one run both days, over ran turns, accidentally hit throttle and brake in braking zones, spun, got lost, coned,. Oh and then had distraction of breaking sound 100 DB limit and had to coast to finish line. Still had a blast! Awesome courses that were fun to drive. Just wish I could have done a couple more runs to get my act together. Oh well so it goes at Tour events.

Haven't weighed the car in a while. Drum roll! With over a 1/4 tank of gas my car weighed in at 2370 lbs. still 300 lbs over XP wieght for my motor size. I was probably running at 2350 lbs today as I spent time this weekend pulling more stuff out of the car

One of the most amazing cars and driving to me was guy in the SMF Acura TL . Huge car 108 inch wheel base and widest car on scales and heavy. He beat times of many faster cars including many GT3's , prepared and mod classes. Was only a second off Steve's SSP GT3 RS times each day? Kicked my sorry butt. !:9 Unbelievable performance from a big and I mean big 4 door Acura FWD car with naturally aspirated motor.

Check out this car

So Bill we should just sell race cars and get Acura TLs.

Great weekend! Very very fast course! Average speed was around 60 mph!!! That"s average speed not max. Average speeds at Marina are thought to be around 40 mph. As always, I wish I had driven better.

I don't know Grant, I'm thinking we should get STR Miatas so we could beat some GT3's. Well maybe if we could drive well enough. There were so many surprising results. I was shocked to see those BSP Mustangs move into CP and win it. Maybe it was just the nature of the course?

Yeah the new gen Miatas built to STR specs with a good driver are quick! Ron is a multi time National Champ in DP Miata but still impressive to spank 5 or 6 well driven GT3's in a street legal naturally aspirated Miata. I try to not let Tour events depress me too much as some of drivers that show up are amazing. Hey Andy beat me by 8 seconds yesterday! The mortals in XP were only couple seconds faster.
